During the severe winter season, diesel generator sets used as prime or standby power sources also require careful protection in snowy and icy weather to get through the winter safely. Proper operation of the generating set can effectively reduce damage caused by severe weather. Changzhou Kaihong Power has summarized winter anti-freeze cracking measures for diesel generator setsto help protect your diesel generator set from damage.
1. When the ambient temperature falls below 0°C, the antifreeze concentration must be checked regularly. At the same time, untreated water must not be used as engine coolant. After daily operation, the cooling water in the lower water chamber of the radiator, the engine, the oil cooler and the torque converter oil cooler should be drained to prevent freeze cracking; water vapor in the air reservoir should also be discharged regularly to prevent freezing and brake failure. If antifreeze has already been added, draining is not necessary.
2. When the ambient temperature is generally below 5°C, hot water or steam should be used to preheat the engine before starting, and the engine should only be started after preheating to above 30~40°C.
3. To prevent the radiator from freezing, add special long-life rust-inhibiting antifreeze or use electric heating equipment to keep the room temperature above freezing.
4. When operating the unit, the no-load warm-up time should be slightly longer before power can be delivered.
5. Open flames are strictly prohibited for heating the generating set.
6. In areas with extremely low temperatures, a water heater must be installed on the unit.
7. Full-load operation is permitted only when the diesel engine coolant temperature exceeds 55°C and the oil temperature exceeds 45°C. During operation, the engine coolant temperature and oil temperature should not exceed 95°C, and the torque converter oil temperature should not exceed 110°C.
8. Under normal circumstances, the pour point of the diesel used should be 3-5°C lower than the minimum seasonal temperature, and the fuel should be replaced in time according to local temperature changes.
Changzhou Kaihong Powerreminds you that the above are the anti-freeze cracking measures for diesel generator sets in snowy and icy weather. In winter, proper maintenance and protection are also essential to keep the diesel generator set operating normally and to ensure the service life of the equipment.
