Diesel generator sets for water pumps are always specified with a certain power rating. At this point, our first reaction is to ask the customer for the pump power. For example, if the pump power is 15KW, the customer will usually think that purchasing a 20KW generator set is enough. In fact, this is a misunderstanding of diesel generator set capacity.

This is because a diesel generator set is different from a transformer: its output power is relatively fixed. When the water pump starts, at least 3 times the starting current is required. A transformer can withstand this for a short period, but a generator set absolutely cannot. Therefore, for this type of diesel generator set application, at least a 40-50KW generator should be configured in order to start a fire pump normally.

Therefore, when you also need to purchase a diesel generator set, you should understand the power requirements of your equipment and select diesel generators with different power ratings according to different power demands and equipment types, so as to avoid wasting resources.
